HEAD OF HSSE (JG5 / SG5)
HSSE DIVISION

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

a. Citizens of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan Negara Brunei Darussalam;
b. Has knowledge on the Islamic religion, national customs, Bruneian culture, social, economic and
political development of Brunei Darussalam;
c. Has a minimum of Master of Science in Safety, Health and Environment Technology or Bachelor of
Science in Safety, Health and Environmental Management or equivalent thereto recognized by the
Government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam;
d. Has minimum of seven (7) years of working experience in the maritime or Health, Safety, Security and
Environment-related field;
e. Candidate with professional qualification such as IOSH and NEBOSH is an added value.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

a. Must be proficient and fluent in English and Malay languages;
b. Must have extensive knowledge and understanding of the Maritime and Port Authority of Brunei
Darussalam (MPABD) Act, Chapter 222 and Merchant Shipping Order, 2002, as amended including
knowledge of Brunei Darussalam territorial waters and port limit areas;
c. Sound knowledge and understanding of Brunei Darussalam Health, Safety, Security and Environment
Order and Regulations, including the Brunei Fire and Rescue Department (BFRD) and Safety, Health
and Environment National Authority (SHENA) legislations;
d. Leadership capabilities to inspire and motivate teams, drive results and foster a culture of
collaboration and accountability;
e. Excellent verbal, analytical, organizational and written skills;
f. Proficient use of Health, Safety, Security and Environment management software and tools;
g. Thorough understanding of Health, Safety, Security and Environment management obligation,
requirements and dynamics;
h. Skilled in Information Technology (IT);
i. Other terms and conditions governed by regulations that take effect from time to time.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

a. To oversee the Health, Safety, Security and Environment Division;
b. Develop the Health, Safety, Security and Environment strategy in line with the functional strategy to
ensure vertical alignment and horizontal integration with other interfacing strategies;
c. Reporting to superior on the operational activities of the Division, challenges and issues faced,
mitigation taken etcetera;
d. Manage and monitor the Division financial performance;
e. Participate in risk assessment and task reviews of the Division;
f. Monitor and support the development, implementation and maintenance of Health, Safety, Security
and Environment aspect of the Authority;
g. Ensure the implementation of Health, Safety, Security and Environment policies, procedures and
controls;
h. To perform such other functions as conferred on the Authority by the MPABD Act or any other written
law as amended; and
i. To perform any other tasks assigned by the superiors from time to time
